Press release from the City of Rochester:
August 13 2020
Mayor Lovely A. Warren will join officials from Rochester Institute of Technology, JP Morgan Chase and Living Cities to launch a new website – Nexusi90.org – for entrepreneurs and small businesses located in Rochester and across the Finger Lakes region to obtain free and easy access to a wealth of information, resources and assistance.
The announcement will take place virtually at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 13. The public is invited to attend the virtual launch event via Facebook Live at: www.facebook.com/CityofRochesterNY.
“With this website, we are providing the residents of Rochester and beyond with the tools and knowledge they need to achieve economic equality by helping them start, fund and grow a business,” said Mayor Warren. “As we build personal wealth and job opportunities in our communities, we inherently create safer, more vibrant neighborhoods, which leads to better educational opportunities.”
The website provides concise information on how to start a business, including resources for developing business plans, business licensing and registration, and ways to structure a business; whether through sole proprietorship, partnership and incorporation. Existing businesses can access information on marketing, exporting, selling to big business and government, hiring and managing employees, networking and more. There is information about loans, grants and other funding methods. A Resource Navigator provides a directory of business organizations that can be sorted by areas of assistance, specific business need, target population, business type, business stage and industry. It also contains a calendar of business related workshops, classes and networking events.
The website is sponsored by the City, Living Cities’ City Accelerator Program and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
“Nexus i90 will open the virtual door for so many small businesses and entrepreneurs looking to grow right here in the Greater Rochester area,” said Thelma Ferguson, Northeast Head of Middle Market Banking, JPMorgan Chase. “JPMorgan Chase congratulates the City of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology Center for Urban Entrepreneurship, Living Cities and all of the local partners on this milestone achievement.”
