After assuming the role of general manager in the offseason, O’Brien received almost universal criticism when he shipped superstar receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona for running back David Johnson and draft picks.

Asked to reflect on some of his personnel decisions, O’Brien said he had no regrets.

“Every decision we made was always in the best interest of the team,” he said. “We had long conversations. We put a lot of research into them. There were things that happened within the walls of an organization that the outside public will really never know. And that’s just the way it is.”

The pressure on O’Brien only intensified as the Texans limped out to the terrible start with Johnson struggling as their running game was the worst in the NFL and with the defense allowing the most yards in the league.

O’Brien was in his seventh season in Houston where he compiled

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Texans fired coach and general manager Bill O’Brien on Monday.

The firing comes a day after Sunday’s 31-23 loss to the Vikings dropped the Texans to 0-4 for the first time since 2008.

“In this business, it’s a bottom-line business and we weren’t able to get it to where we needed to get it,” O’Brien said.

Video footage captured a reckless driver reversing into a gas pump in South Portland, Maine. After starting a fire, he quickly fled the scene.

It happened on Saturday, September 19 at ScrubaDub Car Wash.

The business posted the footage on Facebook asking the community to help identify the driver.

The surveillance footage shows a dark SUV reversing out of a parking space and directly into a pump, which sparks a fire. Instead of pulling over and getting help, the driver speeds off.

The South Portland Police Department also issued an appeal and shared images of the suspect and the vehicle on social media.

LANE COUNTY, Oregon — For the first time since evacuating from their homes, Dennis and Debbie Davis saw firsthand on Tuesday the damage caused by the Holiday Farm Fire.

Two weeks earlier, Debbie woke up to an orange glow. She and her husband Dennis grabbed their three dogs and escaped their home just seconds before a 100-foot-tall Redwood tree smashed down on it.

Another tree fell on the roof of their truck as they tried to escape, caving in its roof and shattering the windshield.

“We used it as a battering ram to get out of here,” Dennis said.

Two weeks later, the couple returned to find a concrete foundation filled with the ashes of what used to be their home.

“We had 41 years of a marriage

Two games, two disasters for the New York Jets. Some observations, including from a monetary angle, on what is going wrong and on what can and cannot (and what most likely will not) be done to try to fix what already seems like a lost season before the calendar even has flipped to October.

Fire Gase? Don’t count on it. It sounds nice and it makes for good headlines and memes, but it’s doubtful that Gase is going anywhere unless the carcass starts to stink so much that acting owner Christopher Johnson no longer can avoid the stench. Remember, he hired Gase in January 2019, despite Gase’s flameout in Miami, because of a glowing recommendation from All-World quarterback and All-World pitchman Peyton Manning, and just last week
